A little sockeye...

Image
I was being silly and my sashiko sockeye salmon went after my tasty thumb! Summer is upon us and I've just come from a round of saskatoon picking in the summer sun with my hubby! I'm thinking a saskatoon pie! Gluten free of course! LOL, Carli

Bears, Bugs and Rain-we still had fun

Summer is fabulous for keeping up with visits and your own vacations. Recently, we had a lovely visit from our son Paul and his girlfriend Melissa. Both live in Edmonton, Alberta. Its quite a drive to our home in the Bulkley Valley. We celebrated their arrival and had such a good visit. And then we went fishing. Little did we know how hard it was going to rain the first night we were there. Paul and Melissa were in the tent on the shore, lovely spot, but proved to be a bear walk and spent that night listened to our dog growl and patrol around the tent. Paul and Melissa kept warm  by the fire and being silly! Even Rusty got in the silly act with her bored tongue look! lol:) I carried on, bug dope on and into the threads, I relaxed and visited on the shore. No fish this trip but a great little get away! Paul and Melissa endured it with such grace and preparation~hoodies!! Thank goodness we had those or we would have been doing some other dance, the mossy&#

Crazy Quilting-Modern Maybe?

Image
Unbelievable! Its already mid July, almost and soon fall will  be knocking on the door! But that only really applies to all of us who live in the northern hemisphere. So I've been taking advantage of camping trips on my days off.  Of course I've been working on last summer's crazy tropical project! I love the warm colours in this latest project. We took a trip to Stewart, B.C. a small port town tucked into the northern coast of B.C. The size of the Cow Parsnip was amazing! This photo is close up, but they are over my  head in height. The glacier was stupendous and its right there so close to the viewing area, which is a simple pull off the windy road. Little Stewart is a bit like a historic town with a small amount of modern conveniences available.  Here is the modern approach to my newest crazy quilting. I'll show you more as the project proceeds. Besides, blogging cannot possibly compete with fishing!  Off to more camping this weekend.
